Whew! The tree is up!
Finally! We just finished the tree. Decorating it only takes a couple of hours. In our little tradition, Michael carefully unwraps every ornament and hands them to me, and I place them on the tree. We relive memories with each ornament we hang on the tree. I always feel very full of love and gratitude for all the people, places and events that have touched our lives. When we travel, we always try to find a Christmas ornament to bring back home. It’s a great way to keep those memories alive.
Here is the tree with all the lights only:
-
Pull ups, neutral grip, 10, 7, 6
-
T-bar rows, wide grip, 25 lb plate 3 sets of 12
-
Pull up on machine with assistance, wide grip, 3 sets of 10
-
One-armed dumbbell rows, 40 lb bell, 3 sets of 10 each arm
-
Hammer reverse-grip pulldown machine, 3 sets of 12, 40lbs each arm
-
Dumbbell bicep curls, 15 lb bells, 3 sets of 10 each arm
I really felt this one tonight. I think I am tired from the holiday weekend, the decorating, and the emotional funeral yesterday. I don’t do a lot of bicep work, because I feel like they get worked during the back routine. Plus, biceps are my least favorite muscle group to work and they develop easily for me, so I just hit them at the end of the workout. You can tell I am not a guy–guys want to work biceps EVERY workout!
I made an awesome living chipotle chili tonight with sour ‘cream’. Warmed in the dehydrator, it was great healthy comfort food for a very cold evening. I will post the recipe when I have time. The chipotles got me, though. I have a bag of dried chipotles, so I took the seeds out of a few of them and decided to grind them in my coffee grinder. How’d that go? Not too well! That just about tore my head off. I was sneezing and sniffling uncontrollably. I felt like a Dork! I had to laugh at myself. Next time I will remember to soak them and put them in the chili FIRST instead of forgetting and adding at the end. Note to self: be wary of the coffee grinder and hot dried peppers!
It’s so hard to stay on a healthy diet this time of year. Not only do you have the holidays but also the cold weather makes many people crave warm comfort food. My diet is mainly living whole foods, which are not heated, so most of them are refrigerated. Cold food on a cold day is tough for many people. I am finding that it is not as difficult for me as I thought it would be, at least so far. Some of the need for warmth is physiological, but most is psychological. The dehydrator is very handy, as it heats the food to a nice warm temperature while preserving the living enzymes by not going over 110 degrees. We really can’t eat food much warmer than that without burning ourselves, anyway, so it is great for warm, healthy, living treats. I have an Excalibur dehydrator, which I highly recommend.
Until tomorrow, keep defying the holiday bulge! Listen to what your body needs in nutrition, and give it healthy living foods. Defy temptation and keep your optimal health goals in mind. I saw a dear friend of mine at the funeral yesterday. She has released 60 pounds and looks fantastic. She said she had been working so hard, and she was determined she was never going back. At the reception afterwards, she was looking at the dessert table and commented that it was killing her but that it wasn’t worth it–she had worked too hard and loved how she looked and felt now. Good for her! I am so happy for her. If you haven’t reached your goal yet—imagine how you will feel when you are at your optimal health. Really feel what it will be like, visualize it, and hold on to that feeling when tempation strikes. Your mind has to be in the right place before your body can release the fat that it’s holding onto. “No food tastes as good as being vibrantly healthy feels!”
Be Defiant! You deserve the best in life!
Much love,
Christy
