Just got done with another killer Bombshell workout. Tonight was the ‘easiest’ of the week’s weight workouts, since it was just arms–bis & tris. The triceps sets weren’t too bad, but the biceps giant set was killer. Biceps are my weakest bodypart by far, as far as strength. They are my best bodypart, though, as far as appearance and growth. I can look at a dumbbell and my biceps grow! So therefore, I have never been very motivated to work them to death like I do legs and back.

On the high rep giant set, which is three exercises back to back, it was all I could do to curl the wussy little five pound dumbbells. Five pounds never felt so heavy! By the time I got through what they had me do, I could barely bend my arms without any weights! And then at the end, I had to throw a medicine ball 50 times for 4 sets. That was surprisingly effective. I have never used medicine balls before. I have always been so focused only on weights, and lifting heavier and heavier. I am loving the new worlds of exercises opening to me right now, and I really appreciate having such awesome coaches encouraging me to push the envelope.

After finishing the weight workout I got to do my favorite thing–sprints! Does that make me sadistic or masochistic? I love the feeling of sprinting faster and faster, almost like flying. I hate, hate, HATE jogging long distances (anything over 200 yards is a long distance!), but I have always loved the explosiveness and speed of sprints. It’s funny, in the recovery period between the sprints, I feel winded and my heart just pounds, but when I dig in and explode out of the blocks in an all-out sprint, some energy force wells up and takes over and I don’t feel the fatigue any more. Well, at least for a while. I am definitely a short-distance sprinter, like a quarter horse. No slow twitch muscle fibers in my entire body, I don’t think.

In response to a great comment I received yesterday, as far as muscle soreness, being on the raw diet had just about eliminated any muscle soreness, or even the lactic acid ‘burn’. Now, that was before Bombshell training. I think that pro football players would be sore from these workouts! Varying the protein sources does help, because as important as protein is, it is still difficult to digest and causes acidity in the body, which leads to all kinds of problems. My naturopathic practioner recommends acidifying the stomach acid with fresh lemon juice, and that works great! Lemon is the most powerful, but grapefruit and raw apple cider vinegar work as well. Keeping the stomach pH as low as possible really helps to digest food and allows the body to break the food down more completely and get much more of the nutrition out of the food. See www.LeftLemon.com for tons of information by the incomparable Dr. Max Collins.

Another thing I have found that helps tremendously is Mona Vie Active. I know, I know, it’s a product sold by–horrors–a network marketing company. And many have claimed it is nothing but worthless juice. All I know is, it works for me like crazy. When I am taking a gel pack after every workout, my soreness is dramatically reduced and the glucosamine really eases any joint pain. I have seen it help too many people close to me to believe the haters. Most people just hate the method of sales, and never give the product a chance. I felt the same way before, but my friend was so high on it, I tried it, and was amazed at the results. I highly recommend it, and yes, I am a distributor because it’s something I believe in. Michael can tell a huge difference when he doesn’t take it also, and he was Mr. Skeptical at first. I had to force him to drink it and now he sings the praises. For more info, check out https://www.mymonavie.com/Seguin

I received the nicest email today from someone that I have never met, but was inspired to contact Shannon Dey about Bombshell training. (The website is www.BombshellFitness.com, in case I forgot to give that to you.) It is amazing how far the internet can reach and touch people you would never, ever have a chance to meet in our everyday lives. That email meant the world to me, and just made my day! I hope that all my rambling on and telling stories actually is helping people. I won’t name names, but THANK YOU for the email!

It gets hard making it through the workouts, especially when I am on my own. I like having Michael with me to push me, but he can’t be there when I am doing cardio or for all the weight workouts. That’s when being Defiant really comes into play. I have to Defy the little voice that says I can’t do it, or that it won’t matter if I don’t get all the reps done, etc etc. I have to Defy the burn, the fatigue, and feeling like my heart may burst out of my chest. It may sound corny, but being part of Team Bombshell really keeps me going. I want to uphold the pride and the tradition. Plus, many of the other ladies on the team are very similar in age to me, and if they can do it, I can do it! I know in my heart that if I don’t give it 110%, the only person I am hurting is ME. Making it through some of these sets successfully is a real victory, and it’s a great feeling of pride and accomplishment.

Be Defiant! It’s Worth It!
